A robotics manufacturer headquartered in Mason is growing its local footprint in a big way.
C.M. Paula, a second-generation, family-owned business, will add 36,500 square feet to its global headquarters, located at 6049 Hi Tek Court in Mason. That represents a roughly 60% expansion, according to a news release.
As a result, C.M. Paula plans to add 22 full-time jobs over the next five years, with a payroll of $1.6 million.
The expansion will primarily benefit C.M. Paula’s Remtec business, which develops and supplies cost-effective robotic systems. All production for Remtec will be moved into the additional space. It will also allow for additional warehouse space for C.M. Paula’s Up With Paper and GeoCentral businesses, the release states.
“We changed our business model and completely retooled our company into what it is today, from a supplier of a limited number of consumer products to a world class leader in robotics, pop-up greeting cards, crystals, one-of-a-kind stones, and gifts,” C.M. Paula CEO George White said in a statement. “Our 25-plus year history with Mason is a key facet of our success. Our company’s foresight and plan for the future is now coming to fruition with this expansion and secures a strong and sustainable home for us here.”
Mason City Council approved an incentive to cover 100% of the real property improvements for seven years based on C.M. Paula supplying an annual compensation payment to Mason City Schools for the duration of the incentive.
Founded in 1958, C.M. Paula began as a small greeting card supplier and evolved into a leading developer and marketer of greeting cards, stationery and novelty products. The company has continued to evolve throughout the years, thanks in large part of acquisitions.
